Ok, Jake is my nephew but this was the first time I’d seen him live and he was brilliant. Loads of charisma, interacted well with the audience and left everyone with a smile on their face. He has an inate natural talent for writing poetic songs about everyday life and dreams, very similar to Morrissey I’d say. There are echos of Divine Comedy in the music but Jake’s songs are uniquely his own and consistently get you tapping your feet and nodding along. A word to his band as well, both talented musicians. Check him out on YouTube and iTunes. The venue was great as well, very relaxed and friendly staff.
