Wax and Beans - November Newsletter

Hi folks

This could be our penultimate newsletter of 2023, depending on how crazy December goes, it could be our last of 2023!

As usual, the enclosed content is very much a mixture of pre orders, in store events (past, present and future) and shop doggie.

Mostly fun and info related, we like to chat about what's been going on and the fun stuff that we have on the horizon.

First up, we've just about caught our breath after a run of four in-stores in the last ten days.

It kicked off with Waverley, who released their debut EP, It Makes An Emptiness Of A Crowded Place on Blackhall Records just last week. They were Ste's favourite in store of 2023, he had a beaming smile all the way through their set. We have a handful of signed (green) records here.

Monday night was Jack Jones of Trampolene. It was our first time meeting Jack and seeing him live, and what a talent and absolutely lovely human being he is! We're desperately low on signed records too, and in hindsight, should have asked him to sign more, as Swansea to Hornsey is a cult classic. They're here.

Next up was two nights back to back with label mates Spector and Sundara Karma, and blimey - they were great. Both bands are touring their new albums now and if the stripped back sets at Beansies were anything to go by, then don't let the tour slip by, go and see them! Honestly, they were SO GOOD. Stock is SOLD OUT!

On Tuesday 5th December we have Glen Matlock appearing in store! Bringing a Sex Pistol to Bury is not something we thought we'd ever be sharing on a newsletter, social media channels and just about everywhere we can think possible.

Glen will be playing a solo set with Q+A, with our mate Smug Roberts compering the evening. Entry is free with the purchase of either of Glen's solo albums on record or CD. Bundle options are here.

Martin Rebelski, ace solo artist and the unofficial fourth member of Doves will be at Wax and Beans for his album launch of 'Simplicity' on Friday 8th December at 7:30pm.

He posted on socials just this week that everyone who pre orders the album will be in the hat to win a signed test pressing. If you'd like to come to his album launch at Beansies, head here to see the bundle options, and if you'd like just a ticket to the show, it's only a fiver!

Lastly, before we discuss all things pre-orders, boxes and boxes of a couple of exclusive titles just arrived over the past few days.

We've been busy shipping 100s of copies of the new Shed Project album - Our Fear Is Their Power, and Record Citizens - Indie Citizens Volume 2. If you're active on Twitter / X, you'll have seen loads of activity from fans, and the magnificent support of these truly independent artists.

If you'd like to add either, or both to your collection, head here for the Shed Project rekkid, and here for the Indie Citizens release.

Keep an eye on our social channels (waxandbeans) as we have some incredible announcements due over the next few weeks.

2023 has been a massive year for new albums and reissues of some seminal albums. We've got hundreds of new releases listed on the website alongside some ace new reissues as well. Here's a full list of our pre-orders if you follow the linky HERE

Remember folks, it's best to bookmark the link for easy, quick access to the page!

If there's something that you have your eye on, act fast as allocations are sometimes lower than the demand and titles frequently sell out on pre order.

It's hard to pick a favourite upcoming pre order for this newsletter so we'll cop out and drop a few faves below.

Click on each title to see more:

British Sea Power - Do You Like Rock Music? (15th Anniversary Expanded Edition) (Orange Vinyl + Picture Disc)

The Fall - The Real New Fall LP (Formerly Country on the Click) (1LP)

Mello Music Group Presents - Omakase (1LP)

Bob Vylan - Humble As The Sun (Coloured Vinyl)

Sleaford Mods - West End Girls (12" EP)

Bleachers - Bleachers (2LP Indie Exclusive Blue Vinyl)

As always, we want to hear from YOU! If you have any suggestions for pre-orders that we haven’t listed, then contact us HERE. Or you can drop us a message on social media or pop into the shop to have a chat with us! We've discovered some great titles through your recommendations, so keep them coming.

*Unfortunately release dates are out of our control and subject to change.* - It's getting better but pressing plants are still under a little pressure, which, let's be honest, isn't a bad thing - it shows that the vinyl format is booming.

Luna doggie has swerved another month of choosing her favourite album, this time the excuse is that her mate Disco is staying with us for a bit. We'll need to rethink this feature, Luna - you're slacking!

Until we waffle on again, take care of yourselves x
