Staff Recommendations

Owner

Ben

Ben loves to keep it random! Jungle, drum and bass, indie or hip hop is usually on heavy rotation. Spinning some Dylan also always makes him smile.

Music started for Ben as a kid watching his dad tape his records and meticulously and neatly replicating the track list with a black pen. Always black (it's funny what he remembers!) Next it was get them playing in the car to the beach (he grew up in Cyprus). It was the 80's music was crucial, they had no access to English language channels on the telly box.

The 90s arrived and so did jungle, next up, he's back to vinyl, buying decks and huge speakers. You were set up in a box room, not a club, Ben! Then came Hip Hop, urban music really consumed most of this listening, although indie was always bubbling away in the background as you couldn't escape it in the pub jukeboxes.

Nowadays he's continually spinning anything and everything after being sent music from labels, and recommendations following conversations with folk in store and online.

OWNER

Louise

Ben's partner Louise tends to have her head in a laptop cracking on with all things admin and finance, as well as her full-time job elsewhere. But when she can break away, she loves a good bit of pop, a decent chunk of rock, some indie and PLENTY of Meat Loaf.

In fact, the entire 285k population of Bolton will have heard her singing Meat Loaf whilst driving around town with her dad doing errands every weekend. She really was a daddy's girl!

MANAGER

Steve

Steve's favourite genres of listening pleasure are trip hop, hip hop and grunge. But he likes to mix it up with a sprinkling of electro, post punk, metal, folk and shoegaze. He'll basically give anything a listen!

Barista & all-round-helper-outer

Avis

Ben's mum Avis was supposed to be enjoying her life in retirement, but quickly got roped into a shift or two a week at the shop (as well as being our wonderful cleaner for Suite Dreams). Avis loves old time classics, as well as some current time bangers!

BIG Lathums fan!
