Team Beansies here for another newsletter and whatever the opposite to doom and gloom is, that's how we're feeling right now! :))
This month's information station (we say this month, I think it's two months since we last spoke) will have some of the usual format, but we wanted to concentrate a little on all the exclusives that we have at Wax and Beans.
Supporting local talent, proper independent bands, and DIY projects is a massive part of our every day workflow, so below we're gonna chat a bit about all the great releases that a tonne of bands / managers / labels have kindly asked us to help promote and given us exclusives on. They're looking to their current fans for support, as well as hopefully picking up new fans so they can continue their passion for playing and producing, and releasing music.
First up, Apollo Junction called us and said that they have a then unannounced GOLD variant being pressed of their forthcoming album, Here We Are. They asked us if we'd like to take it on and sell all 300 copies! We didn't hesitate, but then when Jamie started to tell us about the stunning mirror board packaging and the foil cover, we were already nodding hard. The band has enough vinyl pressed over four variants of their new album to potentially trouble the charts, so we're thinking, why not - wouldn't it be great to see the band break into the Official Charts! The Shed Project - Our Fear Is Their Power
The Shed Project return with some protest songs in 2023!
Album number two is on the horizon. We've heard it, as will a few of you, as Roy is doubly excited to get this out, he's shared it with pals. The raw nature and songwriting is evident as they take things to the next level, and good on them - they don't hold back when they have something to say! David J & Comrades Featuring Mia Doi Todd & Tim Newman - Loner (Exclusive UK Orange Vinyl)
One of our buddies James absolutely loves this album. So much so, he licensed the album from David J to have it exclusively pressed for the UK market. He's done a great job with the pressing, it comes on orange vinyl with some exclusive hype stickers included. He was kind enough to give us a bricks n mortar exclusive.
You'll know David J from his work with Love and Rockets, and Bauhaus. James' label is Dakota Music Media, check them out.

Rebelski - Simplicity
Stunning and beautiful (that's the music) delighted and absolutely delighted (that's us!) Martin aka Rebelski, and famed for his work with the Doves, Peter Hook, and a little spell with Echo & The Bunnymen, has released his soon-to-sell-out, 'Simplicity'. The cassette tape is released now and available on his Bandcamp page. Folk were asking about a vinyl pressing - well - it's happening, and you can pre order it now on his Bandcamp page or grab exclusive signed copies HERE

Lewca - Boombap For Boomers (Halloween Orange Vinyl)
Boombap for Boomers, the second album to come from the basement sessions with S.O.A.P. is as laid back as “Friday Night Rockstar” (the previous album) was angst ridden. A sunny mellow vibe inhabits the tracklist with notable guests, underground legend Mick Swagger & Dancehall King Elephant Man, joining the fray. Record Citizens Presents: Various Artists - Indie Citizens Volume 2 (Sunset Yellow Vinyl) (Limited & Hand Numbered)
Founded on a passion for British indie tuneage, the Indie Citizens series is a showcase for the who's who in the indie scene. Focusing on the next generation of hardworking solo artists and bands, the compilation is a perennial collection of indie music and styles. With many of the tracks being unreleased and exclusive to the album, Volume 2 is a defining collection of some of the best indie music from the Summer of 2023.

The Heavy North - Delta Shakedown (Blue Vinyl / Red Vinyl / CD)
We absolutely adore these guys - they have their own studio (wowzers!), Ste on keys is a legend at social media, spreadsheets and Whatsapp comms, and collectively the band are musicians with a massive amount of talent. The Heavy North will be at Wax and Beans on Friday 20th October to celebrate the release of the album. You can buy the record or CD on it's own, or at no extra cost, come to the show and signing in October. Head HERE

*Unfortunately release dates are out of our control and subject to change.* - It's getting better but pressing plants are still under a little pressure, which, let's be honest, isn't a bad thing - it shows that the vinyl format is booming.
Skindred
In August, SKINDRED found themselves in a massive chart battle for a top 5 album with Smile, on their new label, Earache Records. They toured the country, stopping by a number of chart registered indie stores to play a few new tracks from the album, alongside some fan faves. Benji brought his big personality to our little stage to a full crowd of 80 people in the shop, and he and Mikey Demus put on a brilliant, crowd participation show.
They sold thousands of units and managed to secure an incredible number 2 in the Official Charts. Bravo!
Please please go and see them live, super talented band, and Benji is just gold as a frontman.

Andrew Cushin - In-store show at Wax and Beans
Monday 2nd October @19:30pm
We cheekily asked the label if Andrew would be interested in playing a few tunes on our stage, and they agreed!! Legends!
Andrew has been steadily releasing brilliant music, track after track for a couple of years now. On September 29th, his debut album releases. Waiting For The Rain promises to pull together all of this hard work and touring and we can't wait for a live performance and album signing in-store.
Entry is free with a physical purchase of his album on vinyl or CD, alternatively, if you can't make the show, you can buy signed media and we'll ship it out to you.

With summer coming to a shivering end, (it's not been a great one for heat has it, until the past few days!), Luna doggie picks her favourite LP. We can't disagree, every time Flying Mojito Bros gets a spin, it's impossible not to enjoy it. We don't have any copies to sell you, let's be honest, we've done enough of that above, but if you can find a copy of this album anywhere, do grab one, it gets the Luna Tunes seal of approval.
