Welcome back to the second Wax and Beans newsletter.
We had such a great response from our first, that we thought, "Let's do that again!"
It was the mighty Bob Dylan who said "The times they are a-changin" and, once again, we find ourselves amongst a national lockdown. But whilst we pause our usual day to day shop activities, we're still here to support you crate-diggers in your month of need. As well as servicing your wax based needs, we are also using our time productively by ticking off things from our snagging list. Since opening the doors to our new premises, we've been inundated with visitors and just haven't found the time to finish off those odd coats of paint or to hang the last of the pictures. Hopefully, when the doors re-open, you'll notice all our hard graft!
Even though our physical shop doors are temporarily closed, it's so important to us that we continue to provide you with the best service possible. As per lockdown #1, we are back on the road, keeping in touch (from a distance), via our contactless door step deliveries. For you awesome folk that are further a field, we're posting out parcels daily. We are constantly rotating our stock to try to make sure we have something different every time you visit us, but if you're after something in particular and can't find it on our site, contact us here and we'll do our best to source it for you.
2020 has been a fantastic year for music, with some amazing albums released from some of the worlds best acts and even though the year is coming to an end, there are still plenty of top albums to come.
Our favourite pre-order this month is Gerry Cinnamon's "The Bonny", which features the new single ‘Ghost’ and long-awaited new recordings of tracks ‘Kampfire Vampire’ and ‘Fickle McSelfish’. The new double LP is due to be released on a stunning white vinyl and black vinyl etched with the lyrics to the song "The Bonny", we cannae wait!
This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to new releases, check out our full list of ever updating pre-orders here. Just a word of warning, they are known to move pretty quick, so don't miss out.
As always, we want to hear from you! If you've got any suggestions for a pre-order, message us here. Or you can also chat to us about anything else using that same link.

The excitement of the three RSD drops has just about left our systems, but before we forget, we wanted to say a massive big THANK YOU for all the support we received, we were literally blown away. We still have a few RSD treasures available here if you still fancy bagging something unique.
RSD Black Friday is back on the 27th November
Similar to Record Store Day (RSD), Black Friday is a day of limited edition releases, sold on a first come first served basis. The list of Black Friday releases can be found here and will go on sale from 18:00 on 27th November.
Wax and Beans and Visitors
Cast your minds back to our last newsletter when we named dropped after the visit of Mike Peters from The Alarm. Well this month, we had a visit from the guys from the Manchester metal band, Pist. The band always cause a mini whirlwind when they come to visit and this time was no different. Celebrating the one year anniversary of their album Hailz, Pist kindly left us with some copies of the album which can be purchased here. We can't wait for their next visit, when hopefully they'll have finished writing album number three, which will be their first as a quintet.

David Bowie - Metrobolist (AKA The Man Who Sold The World)
November 2020 sees the 50th Anniversary of the release of David Bowie’s The Man Who Sold The World/Metrobolist. The album marks the beginning of a collaboration with guitarist Mick Ronson that would last through classic works including Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane—as well as the first in a 10-year series of indispensable albums stretching through 1980’s Scary Monsters...
Originally titled Metrobolist, the album's name was changed at the last minute to The Man Who Sold The World. The 2020 re-release of the album under its Metrobolist moniker has been remixed by original producer Tony Visconti, with the exception of the track ‘After All’ which Tony considered perfect as is, and is featured in its 2015 remaster incarnation.
The Metrobolist 50th anniversary artwork has been created by Mike Weller who was behind the historically controversial “dress” cover which Mercury Records refused to release.

Here, we invite one of our incredibly loyal band of customers to nominate a record that has really made their year. This month, Jonathan Wood shares his favourite album of 2020 so far and not content with just one, Jonathan has gone the whole hog and dropped a 7", 10" and an LP.
His selection:
7’ Single - Steve Earle - Times Like These
A track penned in the moment, and rush released, by a long standing troubadour about a defining year for humankind by a man who’s had his own hard times culminating in losing his son, Justin Townes Earle soon after this track was released. The protests and hopes for 2020 nailed.
10’ EP - Paranoid Visions - Corona-verse Reality
Dublin punk veterans as fresh, current and relevant as ever on 2nd of their trio of beautiful 10' EP box sets. Everything they do sounds and looks top quality. Coronavirus and socio-political wrongs are righted here!
LP - Nightingales - Four Against Fate
Since being a John Peel championed Prefect in the early 80s, Robert Lloyd has done his own thing. The current lineup is their strongest most creative and most talented yet. Fliss Kitson is as good a drummer as exists. James Smith’s guitar can jar and soar. The band thunder. This LP sounds like their juggernaut live selves. Stunning!
#vinyllovingleftyssearchforthealbumof2020
Our friend and part-time colleague Jon aka @VinylLovingLefty is on a mission to find the best album of 2020. He's inviting the good people of Instagram to nominate their top 5 albums of 2020, as well as tagging 5 friends to do the same. Jon will collate all of these albums and announce the winning album on New Year's Eve.
Not content to finish it there, Jon has teamed up with us here at Wax and Beans, to send a copy of the winning album* to one of his followers who will be selected at random.
If you fancy joining the competition, post your 5 favourite albums released so far in 2020, nominate 5 friends to do the same but make sure you tag @vinyllovinglefty in to your post so he can keep count. You can also use the hashtag #vinyllovingleftyssearchforthealbumof2020.
