Welcome back folks!
Sorry for the delay with this one... we had such a busy April with all your magnificent support for RSD and lots of events too, we just couldn't get our head above water long enough to sit still and tell you what we've been up to! But here we are, back in fine form and with a spring in our step, so sit back, relax and enjoy our May-hem of our ramblings.
We know, we know, we're like a broken record, but, we have to warn you so you're not left disappointed:
- Pre-orders sell FAST and can be LIMITED - so don't hang around, Like a Bat out of Hell, they'll be gone before the morning comes ;)
- Release dates do have a tendency to slip from time to time. But if you're lost, you can look and you will find them (hopefully) on the product page on the website and if we've been a little disorganised (or more likely not been told), drop us a message/email/call or over on our social channels (@waxandbeans)

We are still working on our spring/summer food menu, (great things are worth the wait), but we have plenty of summery specials on the menu - just ask our staff when you come to eat with us or check out our specials board.
We were so incredibly lucky to have The Zutons join us for a signing in the shop and then one of the best performances ever, over at the Met later that evening.
We took our 3 year old nephew to his first ever gig - he was delighted and getting to stay up past bedtime was an added bonus! He keeps asking "when are we going back to see that gig again?" "Is it not on tonight?!"
We agree with him, when can we see the Zutons again, they're AMAZING!
We've mentioned them once already in our Record of the Month, but The Howlers were so so good, we couldn't help but have them in this newsletter twice!
Garage Rock (although they like to coin the term Desert Rock) - perfect for anybody who wants to escape the monotony of everyday life or wants a break from the anger & frustration found in the post punk movement.
Check out Adam, Cam, Guus and Morgan - you won't be disappointed!
Country music came to Bury!
On Saturday 18th May we welcomed the wonderful Neeve Zahra to Wax and Beans as she played an in-store in front of a sold out crowd.
Neeve, supported by Dave Gorman and Drew Palmer, brought a full on country set to an adoring crowd who adorned leather boots and cowboy hats.
The trio of super talented muscians provided an absolutely brill night of country music.
Watch out Nashville... yee-haw 🤠🤠
THANK YOU, THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Thank you for all your support on RSD and beyond. We had the absolute best day and we hope you did too! We will never get over how many of you queue through the night and support us (come wind, rain or shine), it literally blows our mind. The music line up for the day topped it off - non-stop amazing tunes and you guys created the best atmosphere!
We're not sure how we can top it next year... yes, we are already thinking ahead to April 2025... but we'll try! Hope to see you there!

MAY
Friday 24th May @ 7pm: Dave Haslam & Jez Kerr
(A Certain Ratio)
In his new small format book, Strawberry and the Big Apple: Grace Jones in Stockport,1980, Dave Haslam explains a seemingly unlikely scenario; the day in 1980 when glamorous jet- setting Grace Jones visited post-industrial Stockport to meet A Certain Ratio, with a view to working together. Worlds colliding!
Dave’s special guest for this event is Jez Kerr (A Certain Ratio). Together they will discuss the evolution of A Certain Ratio, and their current renaissance. How New Order’s visits to New York clubs inspired the Haçienda. And share insights into Tony Wilson, Martin Hannett, and, of course, the genius that is Grace Jones.
It’s the 8th book in Dave’s small format ‘Art Decades’ series - subjects have included Sylvia Plath, Keith Haring, and vinyl record collecting.

Thursday 6th June@ 7:30pm: Mickey's Listening Party
Come along to our free monthly event where you can discover new music and make new friends too.
This month, Luna has been checking up on her dad... (someone needs to! 😂😂😂)
Luna volunteered to be Queen QC (Quality Check). She had the very, very important task of checking our parcels one by one. She's checked hundreds of packages - the records being parcelled, the cute messages and hearts added, the parcelling technique, the address labels, the whole shebang!
She did an excellent job - she only spotted one mistake! So I guess in turn we have to say a big well done to the King of parcelling Ben - he's got excellently speedy parcelling skills. Ben you're honoured - you've got the seal of approvement from the Queen herself! 👍
